The little girl in the picture is my granddaughter. She looks so sad in the picture and she had every reason to be. Even though she was staying with grandma and was loved and safe, her whole life had changed. Her family had suffered a house fire earlier in the week. God is good and they escaped without injury but they had lost everything. My son and his wife stayed in hotels for the next few weeks while they worked to find a new home and my grandchildren came to stay with us. My granddaughter's sadness was short term. It was only a few months before she was in a new house with her family. She had new clothes and new toys and the twinkle in her eyes had returned.

I think of all of the people who have that look of sadness and feel like they have little hope for improvement in their lives. Their lack of faith keeps them from stepping toward a new direction. If that is you--hold your head up! Stand Up! It is time to quit focusing on the bottomline and focus on the horizon and what's ahead. In the STAND UP! book you will decide on your purpose and vision and then with faith step towards it. Like the picture says: "Just because it's the life you know, doesn't mean it's the way to go."
